Dear parents/guardians,

Firstly, let me introduce myself. My name is Stuart Eaves and I am the Programme Leader for the music department at Kidderminster College. From September 2019, MAS Records merged with the music courses at the college to provide excellent provision, experiences and opportunities for musicians. I invite you to browse around our website to get more of an insight on all the wonderful things that go on in this forward thinking department.

This is an unprecedented time we find ourselves in. As we are all working out how to adapt to changes in all our lives over the coming weeks, I thought I’d try to add some clarity on how we plan to move forward with students on the music course. You will have no doubt seen in the news that exams have been postponed and there is uncertainty with how students will receive their qualifications. It may be the case that the government will use predicted grades and a report from lecturers to determine outcomes. Therefore, it is really important that students continue to complete their work and have direction from their tutors and lecturers.

From Monday 23rd March, we will be delivering the provision online using a mixture of resources. All students have been told about this and we have had ‘trial runs’ in lessons to make sure everyone understands and everything works from a technical aspect.

There will be an adapted timetable to follow with the expectation that learners will log on at their allotted times. See below this letter for student guidelines.

As this is something we have never had to do before there will be most likely a learning curve for everyone in the first couple of days. However, we are confident that this is the best approach and gives students the best opportunity to get the grade they deserve at the end of all their hard work.

Stay safe and I wish you all the good health in these times,

Stuart Eaves

Equality and Diversity Statement

MAS Records is committed to creating a culture that respects and values each others’ differences, that promotes dignity, equality and diversity and that encourages individuals to develop and maximise their true creative potential.

It is our policy to treat all artists, musicians, employees, customers and associated parties fairly and equally regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, trans-gender status, marital status, civil partnership status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religious belief, political belief, age or disability.

MAS Records is committed to promoting equality and accessibility in all facets of the artist development scheme.

As we are aligned with RSL to deliver our artist development programme we encourage all submitted evidence to be in video format in what we call the 'vegetarian approach' - everyone eats vegetarian! Submitted video evidence is more accessible for everyone as written evidence or other types of assessment can be difficult for some individuals. Video provides a level playing field for all.

However, if you do need further assisted learning support (ALS) to complete evidence needs for the scheme this is available through contact with the MAS programme leader Stuart Eaves at our main Kidderminster campus via the number or email below.
